Firearm Mentor is not a one or two trick pony. Through Firearm Mentor and Stress2Logic, Marcus Melnick delivers presentations to law enforcement agencies, schools, healthcare organizations, businesses, community groups and houses of worship. Active Shooter Response and Survival
Built on the FBI "Run, Hide, Fight" curriculum and brought to life with stress inoculation using training gear, so participants practice under pressure rather than just hearing about it.
"Run, Hide, Fight" is a great moniker, but where do you hide? What is the difference between cover and concealment? What objects will actually stop bullets? How does one fight? Where do you go when running? Do you help others? What if you are injured?
Marcus was present during a thwarted mass shooting in Wisconsin in the mid-1990s. He worked in a multiple-needs special education classroom, served as Director of Security for a large suburban high school district, and later worked with the public safety personnel who responded to the Laurie Dann shooting in Winnetka, Illinois. Because of this training, one of his students stopped a school shooting in Palatine, Illinois in 2017, and another stopped a criminal sexual assault in progress in early 2025.
Managing Agitated People and De-Escalation
The signs of pre-violence and proven de-escalation techniques. Delivered as "Managing Agitated Patients" in healthcare environments, where continuing education credit is available.
Street Smarts and Scam Prevention
Tailored to the audience in the room. Programs exist for real estate agents, older Americans, adults with special needs, small business owners and community groups.
Overcoming the Hot Stress Mess
Based on Marcus's TEDx presentation on bypassing the human stress response. It helps leaders and individuals get past fight-or-flight in ordinary high-stress moments, from a difficult meeting to public speaking. Adapted for navigating college life and for responding to anti-Semitism and racism.
Wellness: Fighting Obesity and Stress
There are five responses to high stress: fight, flee, freeze, submit or eat. Marcus lost 120 pounds starting in 2019 and reversed diabetes and hypertension while cutting his sleep apnea severity. He shares the psychology behind his own relationship with food and the tactics that made it stick.
